Coaching Call with Rebekah: How Can Teachers Gather Data About Students in English?

In my twenty years of teaching, I have been in many IEP / 504 meetings and participated in the writing of student goals. And, always, the more qualitative nature of English is a challenge.

It doesn’t make sense, for instance, to write a goal necessitating a student to “correctly identify the main idea of a text 8 out of 10 times”. It doesn’t work like that in English class.

Dawn had a similar question. How can she find ways to make the reading and writing and appreciating of literature quantitative? How can she teach in the way that she believes to be best for all students while satisfying the needs of her special ed team?

Dawn and I had this free coaching call because she is a member of our Moving Writers Community! You can also schedule a coaching call with me for yourself, your grade level team or your department!
