A Teacher’s Guide to Mentor Texts

We are SO excited that Classroom Essentials: A Teacher’s Guide to Mentor Texts is finally available for pre-order and so close to being in your hands.

We have poured our hearts into this book over the last two years to bring you the most streamlined book about teaching with mentor texts that we could imagine. It’s also updated with our very latest thinking about mentor texts and the ways we have been innovating with them since Writing With Mentors came out six years ago.

There are so many amazing EXTRAS in this book:

  • 8 full-length annotated mentor texts — poetry, analysis, author biography, and 3 op-eds (everything you need to plan an op-ed writing study)
  • Video mini-lessons that you can use with your students directly OR can use to model your own teaching with mentor texts
  • A file of online resources with reproducibles, planning templates, and more

On top of all this, we’re offering a pre-order BONUS! If you pre-order and email us your order confirmation (movingwriters@gmail.com), you will be invited to an online book club where we’ll be discussing the book together!

We cannot wait for you to see this gorgeous little book! Head to Heinemann to pre-order today!

  1. Hi, Korinne! Our books are usually sold in Canada through PearsonSchoolCanada.ca. But this isn’t on their site yet. It’s also available through Amazon here — is it available through Amazon in Canada? I will check on Pearson and get back to you!

  2. Hello,

I just attempted to pre-order Mentor Texts, but the system says the book isn’t available in my territory (Fort Simpson, Canada).

Will the book go into general circulation, or is there another way I could get it?

    Thank you, Korinne.
