This is the second post in the lesson series on identifying genres. Read the first one here.
My main aim in this lesson is to get students comfortable with identifying boundary conditions of a genre in the face of ambiguity. Please excuse my questionable PowerPoint skills you’ll encounter in this process.
I also find using movies as examples to be an accessible medium to include non-readers in the discussion and understanding. I have chosen movies that are relevant to the particular context in India where this class exists. Please, of course, replace them with movies from your side of the world, preferably movies most of your students have watched.
I have also picked books that were popular among my students as examples.
