Mini Moves for Every Writer: Available for Pre-Order NOW!

Back in the dark days of COVID school, my social studies colleague, Sam Futrell, and I started making videos for our students — the tiniest of mini lessons that may, perhaps, help them be able to write successfully on their own from home, or when they had an extended absence, or when they were sitting in front of us in the classroom behind plexiglass shields.

And then we started sharing them with you.

As our thinking grew — could these moves apply not just to the humanities but to writing in every core class?? — so did a book. We’re so excited to share a new book with you: Mini Moves for Every Writer: Fifty Transferable Techniques for Writing Across the Content Areas.

Here’s what I love so much about this book: It’s not a philosophy. It’s not a new way to teach every kind of writing in your classroom. This book gives you fifty moves that all good writers use, regardless of what they are writing. These are plug-and-play, drop-into-your-day morsels of goodness that are easy to teach, easy to learn, and transferable. And if it’s transferable, it’s something students can actually master.

Each move has a student-facing video! And each content area has a downloadable student workbook that walks students through understanding and practicing each move.

We hope it’s a gift upon gift upon gift for exhausted, overworked teachers.

You can pre-order it NOW ahead of its July release! We can’t wait for you to have it in your hands!

  1. Congrats on the new book! As a big fan of your other books (was just going through some materials related to the “gallery of craft and punctuation moves”) I’m eager to dig in to this new one.

I think the preorder link is broken, though – it goes to a different blog post.
